KEMCO HIRES BORDEN AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

CLEARWATER, Fla. — Kemco Systems recently hired Don Borden Jr. as its vice president of global sales and marketing.

don bordenBorden has spent his professional career as an operating executive in general manufacturing and high technology industries. A majority of his experience is in the fluid handling industry, primarily in the water and wastewater arena.

Prior to joining Kemco, Borden served as president of Crane Environmental and as international vice president at GAI-Tronics, with a record of implementing Six Sigma and LEAN Manufacturing.

Borden holds a bachelor of science degree in water resource engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

KANNEGIESSER USA ADDS TANNERT TO SALES TEAM

david tannertGRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — Dave Tannert has joined the sales team for Kannegiesser USA, where he will serve as a regional sales manager in Huntington Beach, Calif.

Tannert holds a bachelor of science degree in manufacturing technology, and he has experience in OEM sales to the aerospace, heavy equipment and durable consumer goods sectors.

His responsibilities have included business development and account management on a national and global basis.

PHOENIX TEXTILE APPOINTS MAYO TO NEW POSITION

geoff mayoO’FALLON, Mo. — Phoenix Textile Corp. has appointed Geoff Mayo to the newly created position of director of key accounts and commercial laundries.

In his new role, Mayo brings with him more than 25 years of industry experience, and will represent the company to large-scale commercial laundries across the nation.

“His experience and knowledge of the industry will support Phoenix’s mission to serve the needs of its customers,” says Scott Rodgers, vice president of sales.

A graduate of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, Mayo previously served as senior vice president of operations and partner with Lintex Corp., as well as executive vice president of the Extended Care Division for Encompass Group and division director of healthcare for American Dawn.

PENN EMBLEM ADDS LEYBELMAN TO MARKETING DEPT. ROSTER

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Move comes amid internal investigation focusing on company’s accounting practices

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Steven Berrard stepped down as the president and CEO of Swisher Hygiene effective Aug. 20 but will remain a member of its board of directors, the company reports. The board appointed Thomas Byrne, executive vice president, as Swisher Hygiene’s interim president/CEO.

The leadership transition comes amid an internal audit investigation into Swisher Hygiene’s accounting practices.

“In order to facilitate completion of the 2011 audit process, and in order to better focus my energies on the strategic direction of Swisher Hygiene, I believe it is in the best interest of the company and its shareholders for me to step down as president and chief executive officer,” says Berrard. “I will miss leading the Swisher Hygiene team on a day-to-day basis, but I will continue to be involved in the ongoing strategic direction of the company as a member of the board of directors and as one of the company’s largest shareholders.”

“The growth of Swisher Hygiene over the past few years would have been impossible without the hard work and dedication of Steve Berrard, and I know I speak for the entire Swisher Hygiene team in thanking him for leading the transformation of this company,” Byrne says.

Swisher Hygiene hopes to complete its ongoing accounting review “expeditiously” and file its 2011 financial statements as soon as possible, he says.

The company has gained attention in the last two years for its acquisition of several textile services companies.

KANNEGIESSER PROMOTES HART TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — The owner of Herbert Kannegiesser GmbH recently promoted Phil Hart to executive vice president of Kannegiesser USA.

Phil HartDuring the company’s recent Canadian sales meeting, owner Martin Kannegiesser announced that Hart’s role in the company will expand, moving him into supervisory positions with different departments, while continuing to be responsible for the company’s daily operations.

Hart joined Kannegiesser USA in 2004 as vice president of marketing, bringing with him more than 10 years of industry and product experience.

TURN-KEY INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING HIRES BERNSTEIN AS SENIOR VP

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A veteran of the textile industry, David Bernstein recently joined Turn-Key Industrial Engineering Services as senior vice president. Bernstein’s role will be in business development, consulting, and adding new services to the firm’s lineup.

He has more than 20 years experience, including stints as president of Consolidated Laundry Machinery Co., as director of the Uniform and Textile Services Association (UTSA), and as chief operating officer of F-MATIC.

He resides in Park City, Utah.

TINGUE, BROWN & CO. PROMOTES LAVIGNA TO PURCHASING DIRECTOR

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — Paul LaVigna has been promoted to the role of purchasing director for the TB division of laundry industry supplier Tingue, Brown & Co. He will work out of TB’s satellite office in Clifton Park, N.Y.

More recently, he was an operations manager for a nationwide retailer. He has been in corporate operations with TB since August 2010.

A graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, LaVigna lives in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., with his wife and two children.

VENUS GROUP HIRES INDUSTRY VET MCBRIDE AS SALES MANAGER

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. — Venus Group has a new Midwest regional sales manager. With more than 30 years of industry experience, Mike McBride is now responsible for the textile company’s sales and growth efforts in the Midwest.

He started with Procter & Gamble as a field representative and trainer, then moved to Cleaners Hangers Co. as a sales representative. His most recent post with Cleaners Hangers was as vice president of sales and marketing.

McBride earned a degree from the University of Notre Dame, where he was also a member of the 1973 NCAA national champion football team.

G.A. BRAUN ADDS SLETTE TO FINISHING EQUIPMENT TEAM

matt sletteSYRACUSE, N.Y. —The G.A. Braun Finishing Equipment Engineering Team has a new member. Matt Slette brings to the product development team a diverse experience in modeling components in 3D and developing 2D working drawings, bill of materials, and assemblies for production, Braun says.

Slette graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering technology from California Polytechnic State University. He is based at Braun’s corporate headquarters in Syracuse.

INWOOD, N.Y. — Laundrylux has appointed Tim Smith the company’s Southern regional business manager for on-premise laundry.

Smith brings more than 20 years of experience in the commercial laundry industry. He has worked as a service agent, owned and operated a dry cleaning plant, sold OPL equipment for a large distributor, and for the past eight years has been a regional sales manager for Unipress.

He will be based in Tennessee, near Nashville, where he lives with his wife and three sons.

ALBANY, Ga. — Equinox Chemicals has announced that it has acquired Adco Cleaning Products, based in Sedalia, Mo. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.

Equinox will move Adco’s manufacturing operations to its state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Albany, according to Yalda Harris, Equinox’s executive vice president for Global Product Management.

Dr. Jim Schreiner, Adco’s chief product technology officer, will also be relocating, she says.

Customer-service and order-taking staff will remain in Sedalia, and there will be no changes to the way customers or distributors order from Adco, Harris adds. The national sales team will remain the same.

Equinox is a specialty chemical manufacturer with specialty research, innovation, product development and commercialization capabilities that reach markets spanning the globe, the company says.

Adco manufactures a comprehensive line of specialty cleaning chemicals and detergents used in dry cleaning, commercial laundry, and janitorial and institutional cleaning applications. It offers more than 300 proprietary products through the Adco and Laidlaw brands.

“This latest acquisition will continue our aggressive strategy to revolutionize and revitalize the laundry, dry cleaning and cleaning chemical industry,” says Mark Grimaldi, CEO of Equinox Chemicals.

Mentor Partners had owned Adco since 2007.

INWOOD, N.Y. — Laundrylux has hired Kim Shady as senior executive vice president for OPL and National Accounts, the company reports.

Shady has more than 23 years of experience in the on-premise laundry sector, and previously worked as North American sales manager for UniMac. He serves on the Textile Care Allied Trades Association board of directors and has been a member for more than 15 years.

“We are delighted to welcome Kim Shady, a highly respected industry leader, to Laundrylux to lead the growth and expansion of our OPL and National Accounts business,” says Laundrylux CEO Neal Milch. “Kim will be working closely with Dan Goldman as they expand our sales force to ensure national coverage for both the Electrolux and Wascomat OPL product lines.”

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Jensen USA continues its reorganization here with the promotions of President Jens Voldbaek and Executive Vice President Simon Nield.

Voldbaek has assumed a new role as the director of sales activity in the Americas for parent company Jensen-Group, reporting directly to its chief executive officer, Jesper Jensen.

Nield, who was the managing director of Jensen UK before joining Jensen USA, takes over the operational duties of the Panama City facility and assumes the title of Jensen USA president.
