Release of Chlorine Gas Prompts Prudential Plant Evacuation

VISTA, Calif. — Prudential Overall Supply evacuated its industrial laundry here Friday morning when a combination of sulfuric acid and bleach produced fumes that caused respiratory problems for some employees.

Maintenance work was under way on the washroom floor when the incident occurred around 7 a.m.

Authorities Probe Cause of Sulfuric Acid Leak

VENTURA, Calif. — Authorities are investigating how sulfuric acid leaked from an aboveground holding tank and secondary tank at Mission Linen Supply, according to reports in the Ventura County Star.

Mission Linen employees discovered and reported the leak about 6:15 a.m. May 10.
