Cruise Line Partners with Hanger Maker to Green Ships’ Staterooms

LOS ANGELES — Crystal Cruises has partnered with the Hanger Network, creator of EcoHangers, to green the guest staterooms on its ships.

EcoHangers are environmentally sound alternatives to the 3.5 billion wire hangers and the 5 billion plastic hangers that fill America’s landfills each year, Hanger Network says. EcoHangers are 100% recyclable and manufactured in U.S. EPA-regulated laboratories.

WASHINGTON — The Department of Commerce (DOC) issued a preliminary determination recently that Chinese producers are dumping wire hangers on the U.S. market, and may levy tariffs of up to 221% on imports.

Labor Dept. May Investigate Navisa Closure

BRENHAM, Texas — Texas officials have asked the U.S. Department of Labor to investigate whether the more than 70 employees who lost their jobs here this month at Navisa’s manufacturing plant are eligible for additional benefits.

The Houston-based hanger manufacturer shuttered the plant abruptly April 2. Employees returning to work that day found the factory doors locked and a sign blaming “foreign competition” for the closure.
