ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Salt Lake City will host the Joint Committee Annual Meeting (JCAM) of the Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA), a free, members-only event, next month.
Sixteen educational sessions will highlight the Aug. 4-6 meeting at the Hilton City Center, focusing primarily on three areas important to textile service operators today: safety, the environment and skilled labor.
TRSA will offer six sessions designed to help operators ensure that their workers are protected. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) cites lockout/tagout more than any other safety violation in the industry, TRSA says, so one class will focus on it.
Two other classes will tackle safety issues from the perspective of empowering workers through education. The remainder will address ergonomics, the proper handling of chemicals and analyzing benchmarking data to help enhance a company’s safety record.
Sessions dealing with the environment will explore improving the efficiency of textile service operations and marketing the benefits of reusables vs. disposables. Three sessions will address the problem of finding skilled workers, including recruiting from the military and creating successful apprenticeship programs.
Also planned are a networking reception and a plant tour of Salt Lake City-based Alsco. Tickets must be purchased for the reception ($40).
Eleven committees will convene during the JCAM, with most having meetings on Aug. 4.
