MCDONOUGH, Ga. — Encompass® Reusable Apparel has partnered with Starlight Children’s Foundation™ to create Starlight Pediatric Patient Apparel, Bedding and Patient Care items designed to help comfort, inspire and cheer children and teens fighting serious medical conditions, Encompass reports.
The apparel linen features unique, vibrant prints designed by children and teens who have been patients and beneficiaries of Starlight’s programs. In a contest last year, 325 designs were submitted from across the United States and Canada, and four were chosen.
The heavyweight knit fabric used in Starlight Reusable Pediatric Patient Apparel provides the soft feel of cotton, with the durability and colorfastness of 100% polyester knit, Encompass says. It meets CFR 1615 and 1616 flammability requirements for children’s sleepwear.
Each distinct design supports simplified sorting and side identification of gowns and tops, which coordinate to a solid-color pajama pant.
“We at Encompass are very grateful for this opportunity to partner with Starlight on this effort to bring a little bit of brightness and comfort to children, teens and their families in the hospital environment,” says Michelle Daniels, Encompass Reusable Apparel’s director of marketing.
Encompass has also guaranteed donations of more than $65,000 each year for two years and will be placing three Fun Center™ mobile entertainment units each year for two years in hospitals that are on Starlight’s Fun Center wait list.
