NEW ORLEANS — The Clean Executive Committee met here recently to observe firsthand that the Crescent City is ready for Clean ’09, scheduled for June 18-21, 2009.
The group — executives or other representatives from the six sponsoring associations — met at the Astor Crowne Plaza hotel at the entrance to the French Quarter, visited with the new president of the Morial Convention Center and toured the host facility. Members also met with executives of the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau.
“After visiting New Orleans with the Clean Executive Committee, we know that New Orleans is certainly ready and capable to handle Clean ’09,” says Roger Cocivera, Clean ’09 chairman and CEO of the Textile Rental Services Association (TRSA), one of the show sponsors. “We think the show will be better than ever.”
Other committee members and members of association boards reported being impressed with the city’s upbeat atmosphere, cleanliness and readiness to regain its position as a major trade show venue.
New Orleans was to have hosted Clean ’07, but the Clean Executive Committee decided in 2005 to shift the show to Las Vegas in light of the extensive damage Hurricane Katrina inflicted on New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. New Orleans last hosted the Clean Show – officially the World Educational Congress for Laundering and Drycleaning – in 2001.
Besides TRSA, other show sponsors are the Association for Linen Management (ALM), Coin Laundry Association (CLA), Drycleaning & Laundry Institute (DLI), Textile Care Allied Trades Association (TCATA) and the Uniform & Textile Service Association (UTSA).
